Forty-one cars are now eligible for the £1,500 electric vehicle (EV) grant, with two new Ford models added to the list. The expansion brings the total number of vehicles covered under the scheme to 41.
Government Electric Car Grant Details
The Labour Party government's Electric Car Grant (ECG) runs from July 2025 to March 2030. To qualify, a vehicle must be an M1 passenger car, produce zero tailpipe CO2 emissions, and have a minimum battery range of 100 miles (160 km). Additionally, the vehicle must come with a three-year or 60,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first), an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty, and meet minimum sustainability criteria.
How the Grant Works
Eligible vehicles receive a discount of up to £1,500, depending on the vehicle band. Buyers do not apply for the grant; instead, the seller includes it as a discount in the purchase price. Only government-approved vehicles qualify.
