Two men in their 20s have been taken to hospital after a double shooting in what police describe as a 'targeted attack' near a country park in Knowsley.
Incident Details
The victims were found with gunshot wounds on Pottery Lane, adjacent to Stadt Moers Park, at approximately 2:50 pm on Sunday. Emergency services, including air ambulances, responded to the scene, and both men were transported to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are being assessed, and no further details on their condition have been released.
Police Investigation
Officers remain at the location conducting CCTV reviews, house-to-house inquiries, and forensic examinations. Detective Superintendent Paul Speight stated: 'Although these are the early hours of our investigation, it is absolutely vital that we gather all available evidence as soon as possible. If you saw, heard or may have captured anything on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices, please come forward at the earliest opportunity.'
He added: 'Our initial assessment is this was a targeted attack on the two victims, for reasons we will establish as the investigation progresses. To fire a weapon in our communities at any time is of course a concern, but to do so in a residential area on a Sunday afternoon is beyond comprehension.'
