South Devon is set to host a new event to help raise funds for The Seal Project charity. The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will be held on Sunday 2 August, marking the first time this much-loved Kate Bush celebration has come to South Devon. Organisers have been working with Torbay Council to secure permission for the event, which will be fully insured and risk-assessed to ensure it is safe, fun and inclusive.
Global Phenomenon
Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever events are held around the world and have grown in popularity across the UK. This includes the well-known Folkestone event, which began in 2018 and has since drawn thousands of dancers. South Devon organisers hope to welcome 250 participants for their inaugural event.
The global phenomenon celebrates Kate Bush’s 1978 hit song Wuthering Heights, inspired by Emily Brontë’s classic novel. Participants recreate the singer’s famous red-dress look and iconic choreography.
Event Details
Dancers will gather at Oddicombe Beach at 2pm to collect a wristband, join a warm-up, learn key moves from the dance leaders and then perform the routine together as a group. The event is all about fun and community; no dance experience is needed, and participants are encouraged to watch tutorial videos in advance if they would like to feel more confident on the day.
