Campervan Ban in Eryri National Park Could Be Scrapped Tomorrow
Eryri Campervan Ban May Be Scrapped Tomorrow

New UK campervan and motorhome rules that were introduced in Eryri National Park could be scrapped tomorrow in a major U-turn. The Eryri National Park Authority (ENPA) implemented an overnight parking ban on campervans and motorhomes in 11 car parks across the area on April 1.

However, concerns raised by both locals and visitors have prompted a review. A report to be discussed by the national park authority on Wednesday, June 10, describes the issue as "not straightforward" and recommends pausing the plans at most sites.

Potential U-Turn by ENPA

ENPA stated ahead of the local authority meeting: "Having given this issue consideration over the last few weeks, it is concluded that it is necessary to pause the revision of car park operational hours on most of our sites to fully consider the consequences for users."

The authority added: "It is important to consider the enjoyment of the National Park for many users who go out to see the sunrise / sunset or to enjoy the dark night skies in Eryri."

Public Reaction

One motorist fumed: "Snowdonia National Park seem to have been trying to drive away as much tourism as possible in recent years. Same goes for Welsh Government. Hopefully things will change, but I doubt it."

Another complained: "Selfish people will be antisocial and drop litter any time of day. Why let them spoil the enjoyment of others. Film them, fine them."
