AWS Comsum Conference Expands to Birmingham in June 2026
AWS Comsum Conference Comes to Birmingham in June

The independent AWS Community Summit, widely known as Comsum, is set to launch in Birmingham this summer, marking a significant expansion for the popular UK tech event. Following its established success in Manchester, the one-day conference for Amazon Web Services professionals will debut in the West Midlands on 4th June 2026.

What to Expect at the Inaugural Birmingham Event

Scheduled to take place across two prominent Digbeth venues, The Bond and Fazeley Studios, the inaugural Birmingham Comsum will feature a packed agenda. Attendees can look forward to over 25 talks and hands-on workshops. Key topics will span cloud migration, digital transformation, application modernisation, and leveraging generative AI to accelerate innovation. A major focus will also be on unlocking data to drive tangible business value.

The event has secured sponsorship from two leading consultancies. AND Digital, which has a Birmingham office in Brindleyplace, and specialist cloud consultancy Steamhaus will both support the summit. Their involvement underscores the event's commitment to helping organisations harness AWS for competitive speed, stability, and innovation.

Driving Regional Tech Growth and Collaboration

The expansion to Birmingham was facilitated with support from the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC), the region's official investment promotion agency. The WMGC connected the Comsum organisers with key regional stakeholders, potential commercial partners, and suitable venues.

Phil Horn, Director at Steamhaus and the organiser of AWS Comsum, expressed his enthusiasm: "AWS Comsum is a unique and powerful forum for sharing best practice and learning about new AWS developments. It's brilliant to have the support of AND Digital and Steamhaus as we bring this stand-out event to Birmingham for the first time."

Echoing this sentiment, Paul Dickinson, Director of AWS UK Regional Strategy, Engagement & Growth, stated: "The launch of AWS Comsum Birmingham will ensure even more of our customers in this dynamic city and region can benefit from collaborating with industry peers, forming new partnerships, and gaining a competitive advantage."

A Welcome Boost for Birmingham's Tech Scene

Local leaders have warmly welcomed the conference. Richard Bovey, Chief for Data at AND Digital, noted: "Birmingham is fast becoming a powerhouse for tech, so it’s fitting for AND Digital to support the inaugural ComSum Birmingham 2026. This partnership underscores our passion for growing innovation across the Midlands' digital ecosystem."

Councillor John Cotton, Leader of Birmingham City Council, added: "I’m delighted that the AWS Comsum team has recognised Birmingham’s world-class strengths as a destination for major business events. Digbeth’s venues will provide the perfect environment for the growing AWS community."

Since its launch in 2018, Comsum has become a leading independent event in the UK AWS calendar, previously attracting delegates from blue-chip organisations like Barclays, the BBC, Shell, and the University of Manchester. The Birmingham debut promises to extend this collaborative platform to the heart of the UK.
