BDO Appoints Andrea Bishop as New South West & Thames Valley Head
Andrea Bishop named BDO South West & Thames Valley Head

Accountancy and business advisory giant BDO has announced a significant leadership change for its Thames Valley and South West region. Andrea Bishop steps into the role of regional managing partner, taking over from David Brookes.

A Strategic Homecoming for a Tech Leader

Andrea Bishop is no stranger to the region or BDO. She previously served as the lead partner for BDO in Bristol and has held several senior positions within the firm. Currently, she is BDO's global and UK head of technology risk assurance, roles she will continue alongside her new regional responsibilities.

Her extensive background includes leading the firm's audit transformation and operations, where she spearheaded major technology transformation programmes. She has also served on both the operations board and the audit board, giving her a deep understanding of the firm's strategic direction.

Leading a 500-Strong Team to Drive Growth

In her new capacity, effective from December 2025, Bishop will oversee a substantial operation. She will be responsible for more than 500 staff and 43 partners across the Thames Valley and West of England region.

Her mandate is to drive strategy and growth across all of BDO's service divisions. This includes:

  • Audit
  • Tax
  • Deals and consulting
  • Risk and outsourcing

"This is an exciting homecoming for me, returning to the region to lead our talented teams," Bishop commented. She highlighted the region's dynamic business landscape, home to many high-potential and global companies, and expressed her eagerness to help them achieve their ambitions.

Building on a Market-Leading Foundation

Outgoing managing partner David Brookes, who will remain with BDO as a tax partner, praised the team built under his leadership. "Andrea is an outstanding leader and her experience across global markets and commitment to exceptional client service make her the ideal person to take the region forward," he stated.

BDO is a major player in the UK professional services sector. The firm employs approximately 8,000 people across 18 UK offices and generates annual UK revenues of around £1 billion. This appointment underscores BDO's commitment to strengthening its regional leadership with experienced internal talent.
