Sintons LLP hits record £19.3m revenue in Newcastle

Newcastle-based legal practice Sintons LLP has announced a year of significant financial and operational success, posting record revenues and a substantial increase in its workforce.

Financial Performance and Strategic Expansion

The firm, headquartered at The Cube on Barrack Road, has published its accounts for the year ending March 2025. Revenue climbed by 6.5%, from £18.1m to a record £19.3m, while operating profit held steady at £6.6m. This financial strength was matched by physical and team growth, with the firm completing a full refurbishment of its flagship offices at a cost exceeding £2m.

Employee numbers grew markedly, with the average headcount rising from 163 to 180 during the financial year. Since the year-end, recruitment has continued, bringing the total number of colleagues to 216. For the fourth year running, all staff benefited from a turnover-based bonus scheme.

Driving Growth Across Key Legal Sectors

The revenue increase was robust across the firm's entire practice, with standout performances in several commercial departments. The corporate team led the way with impressive growth of 42%, followed by the dispute resolution team at 16%, and the commercial real estate team, which saw a 9% rise.

Managing partner Chris Welch and real estate partner Mark Dobbin commented in the accounts report, stating: "In another successful financial year, we welcomed 25 new colleagues to the firm. Our colleagues remain our greatest asset, and we thank them for their continued commitment and dedication."

Commitment to People, Community, and Sustainability

The firm's strategy heavily emphasises investment in its people and corporate responsibility. Initiatives include ongoing participation in the Investors in People programme, health and well-being schemes like the Better Health at Work Award, and the Disability Confident employer scheme.

Community engagement remains a cornerstone, with colleagues raising more than £23,000 for The Percy Hedley Foundation since 2024. On the environmental front, Sintons is progressing towards its goal of becoming net zero by 2040. The firm earned Planet Mark certification for the fourth consecutive year after reducing its overall carbon footprint by 34.1% and its per-employee footprint by 41.51%.

Reflecting on the year, Chris Welch said: "We are delighted to have recorded another successful financial year, with a further year of record-breaking turnover, driven by our outstanding people and the unwavering support of our clients." He highlighted the crucial focus on attracting and retaining the best legal talent, including through the North East Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme, and confirmed plans for continued investment and geographic expansion.
