Wolves have confirmed the appointment of Nathan Shi as their new executive chairman on a permanent basis. The announcement ends a period of interim leadership following the removal of Jeff Shi earlier this season amid fan protests over the club's slide toward Premier League relegation.
Permanent Role for Nathan Shi
Nathan Shi, who had been serving as interim executive chairman since December, will now take on the role permanently. He will report directly to the board of Fosun, Wolves' owners, and will be responsible for leading the club as they prepare for life in the Championship and a potential immediate return to the top flight.
In a club statement, Wolves said: "Nathan, who has served as interim executive chairman since December, will continue to lead the club’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations as Wolves prepare for a crucial summer and the 2026/27 season." The decision was made to provide clarity and consistency at a critical time, following a period in which Nathan Shi has worked closely with staff, supporters, and local communities.
Nathan Shi's Commitment
Nathan Shi expressed his honor at taking on the role permanently, acknowledging the responsibility it carries. He said: "Since arriving, I have spent time listening, learning and building a clear picture of where we are and what needs to improve. That work continues and provides a strong foundation for what comes next. Our focus now is on strengthening the club, building momentum and creating a team and environment that our supporters can be proud of."
Background of Leadership Change
Jeff Shi stepped down from his role as executive chairman in December following a fierce backlash from fans, with Wolves winless in the Premier League at that point. He remains chairman and CEO of Fosun Sports Group but has no operational duties related to Wolves. The club now looks to Nathan Shi to lead the rebuilding process and restore pride among supporters.
