A major retail expansion in the West Midlands is set to create a significant economic boost, with hundreds of new jobs on the horizon.
Substantial Growth and Job Creation
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands has unveiled ambitious plans to grow its retail offering substantially. The popular shopping destination in Cannock, Staffordshire, is preparing to increase its store count from 75 to 100.
This expansion is projected to create up to 500 new jobs, boosting the site's workforce by almost 50%. Currently employing around 1,200 people, the outlet's staff numbers are expected to rise significantly by the year 2027.
Enhanced Shopping and Dining Experience
The expansion will not only bring more shopping choices but also potentially introduce a new culinary dimension. As part of the development, the outlet is considering adding a dedicated area for street food and dining, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
The 200,000 sq ft shopping complex, which first opened in April 2021 with over 65 brand stores, has become a key retail hub for the region. Its strategic location just off Eastern Way in Cannock makes it easily accessible for a wide catchment area.
Strategic Location and Accessibility
The outlet's management emphasises its convenient location for shoppers from Birmingham, Coventry, Staffordshire, and even further afield including London and Manchester. It is approximately a 30-minute drive from Birmingham City Centre and is also well-served by public transport links, including train and bus services.
Current opening hours are from 10am to 8pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 9pm on Thursdays to Saturdays, and 10am to 6pm on Sundays, providing ample opportunity for visitors to explore the expanded retail offering once the development is complete.
