DWP Urges PIP Claimants With 178 Conditions to Act Before May 28
DWP: PIP Claimants Must Act Before May 28 for 178 Conditions

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published a comprehensive list of 178 medical conditions that qualify for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), with the benefit set to pay up to £779 per month following the April uprating. This equates to a maximum of £194 per week.

Timms Review and Call for Evidence

Under the Labour government, PIP is under scrutiny by Cabinet Minister Sir Stephen Timms, who is leading a review into the disability and incapacity benefit amid concerns over the rising welfare bill. The DWP is currently administering a call for evidence on behalf of the Timms Review steering group, seeking feedback on areas outlined in the Terms of Reference.

The DWP urges claimants: "This call for evidence closes at 11:59pm on 28 May 2026." PIP consists of two components: daily living and mobility. Claimants may receive one or both, depending on their assessment. Each component is paid at either a standard or enhanced rate, based on the level of help needed with activities such as preparing food, washing, dressing, or moving around.
