Nationwide Building Society has commenced the distribution of its £100 Fairer Share bonus payment, but not all members have received it yet. This marks the fourth consecutive year the lender has issued the payment, benefiting over four million members and totaling an expected £440 million.
According to Nationwide, the majority of customers have already been paid, but some are still awaiting the funds. Dame Debbie Crosbie, Nationwide’s Chief Executive, stated: “More people than ever are choosing Nationwide. Our growth in mortgages, retail deposits and personal current accounts is leading the market, which means we can again make a Fairer Share payment to eligible members, and offer a new Member Exclusive Bond to all members.”
When will I receive the Nationwide Fairer Share payment?
The payment window opened on Wednesday, 10 June, and will remain open until 30 June 2026. Nationwide customers are advised to check their accounts, as most eligible individuals have already received the payment. However, if the funds have not yet appeared, there is still time, as distributions will continue throughout the month.
Am I eligible for the Nationwide Fairer Share payment?
To qualify, your Nationwide account must have been open by 31 March 2026. Nationwide states: “You will have had qualifying savings if you had at least £100 in total in one or more personal savings accounts or cash ISAs with Nationwide at the end of any day in March 2026.” Customers of Virgin Money, which was acquired by Nationwide in April, are not eligible for this year’s payment.
In the West Midlands, over 370,000 people will receive the payment. This includes over 41,000 in Birmingham, over 29,000 in Shropshire, over 18,000 in Dudley, over 15,000 in Coventry, over 17,000 in Wolverhampton, and over 18,000 in Herefordshire.
How much is the Nationwide Fairer Share payment?
For 2026, the Fairer Share Payment is £100, the same amount as in previous years. More than 4 million eligible members are expected to receive the payment, amounting to £440 million in total.
Is the Nationwide Fairer Share payment guaranteed every year?
The short answer is no. Nationwide has expressed its desire to continue making Fairer Share payments annually, but the payment depends on the building society’s financial performance and board approval. The building society confirmed it had made profits of £2 billion for the year up to 31 March 2026, which enabled this year’s payment.
