Procure Smart Creates 40 Jobs in Newcastle Office Launch

Around 40 new jobs are set to be created as Procure Smart launches its latest office in Newcastle city centre. The growing North East utilities specialist, headquartered in Sunderland, is expanding its geographical footprint with the new base at St James’ Place.

Expansion and Recruitment Drive

Founded in 2022, Procure Smart helps businesses save time and money on utilities and services. Its first office opened at Sunderland’s Doxford Park, followed by a Manchester office that created 10 jobs. The company also employs remote workers in Dubai and elsewhere in the UK. Now, with over 50 colleagues, the next phase of expansion has triggered a recruitment drive for around 40 new employees in Newcastle.

Head of sales, Michael Tansey, who has over 15 years of industry experience, said the company has built a dedicated and passionate team at its Sunderland headquarters since inception. He expressed excitement about the Newcastle launch in May and the opportunity to build the first team based in the city centre.

New Tools and Innovations

The expansion follows the launch of Switch Savvi, an online business energy switching tool. This platform provides a comparison-site solution for procuring business utilities like gas and electricity, helping businesses combat soaring energy costs. Additionally, Procure Smart plans to release SmartVu, monitoring and tracking software that gives customers a view of their energy usage, enabling them to spot trends, improve efficiency, and make further cost savings.

Company Background

Procure Smart is run by managing director Craig Shields and CEO Brad Groves. Brad Groves previously ran Seaham-based Great Annual Savings, which went into administration in May 2023 after a restructuring plan was rejected by the High Court. HMRC claimed it was owed £7.8 million, and over 100 jobs were lost at the former Sunderland AFC shirt sponsor.

Recently, Procure Smart was announced as the Spennymoor Town FC shirt sponsor for the 2026/2027 season. The company says it has plans to release new innovations this year, including SmartVu, to further support customers in managing energy costs.
