Nationwide customers have been urged to contact the building society by Monday, June 8, if they do not wish to receive a £100 payment. The bank has confirmed that it is pressing ahead with its Fairer Share Payment scheme for the fourth consecutive year.
Payment Details
In an announcement on Thursday, Nationwide stated that an estimated 4.4 million members will receive a free £100 payment next month. The money will arrive in accounts by June 30.
How to Opt Out
Should you not wish to receive the payment, you have the choice to decline it. On its website, Nationwide said: "You will need to let us know, no later than June 8 by calling us on 0330 123 9734, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday between 9am and 2pm, or by visiting us in branch." Once you have opted out of receiving the 2026 payment, you will be unable to reverse that decision.
Important Notes
Those who chose not to receive the Nationwide Fairer Share Payment in 2023, 2024, or 2025 will still need to notify Nationwide if they wish to opt out on this occasion. Nationwide emphasized that as a building society, not a bank, they do things differently, sharing some of their profits with eligible members through this one-off payment.
