Nationwide's January 1 Deadline: Act Now or Lose £50 Bonus
Nationwide's £50 Bonus Deadline: Act by Jan 1

Nationwide Building Society has issued an urgent warning to its customers regarding a fast-approaching deadline that could see them lose out on a £50 bonus payment.

The January 1 Payment Deadline

The financial institution is reminding specific customers that they must take action before January 1, 2026. This date marks the final opportunity to cash in cheques for a free £50 bonus that was part of a major customer giveaway. A spokesperson for Nationwide confirmed that the building society would consider late enquiries on a case-by-case basis but could not guarantee help due to the significant time that will have passed.

Who Needs to Take Action?

This alert specifically targets the segment of recipients who were sent their £50 payment via postal cheque. While the majority of the over 12 million customers who benefited from the promotion had the funds deposited directly into their bank accounts, a number were paid by cheque.

Nationwide is concerned that some of these physical cheques may have been forgotten, potentially lying unused in drawers around the country. These customers are the ones who face the prospect of missing out if they do not locate and deposit their cheques before the deadline.

Background of the Giveaway

The £50 payments were distributed as part of Nationwide's "Big Thank You" initiative. This programme was launched to mark a significant corporate event: the building society's takeover of Virgin Money.

It is worth noting that this was not the only recent windfall for Nationwide members. Millions more customers also received separate £100 payments last summer under the organisation's popular Fairer Share giveaway.

Customers are urged to check their records for any uncashed cheques to ensure they do not forfeit this bonus payment.
