Birmingham's celebrated culinary scene has received significant national recognition, with nine local Indian restaurants securing coveted spots in the prestigious The British Indian Good Food Guide 2025.
Midlands Champions Crowned
The guide, which highlights 100 outstanding British-Indian eateries across the country, also designates regional champions. In a remarkable achievement for the city, both Midlands champion titles were claimed by Birmingham establishments. Aktar Islam's Opheem on Summer Row, Birmingham's only two Michelin Star restaurant, and the celebrity-favourite Asha's on Newhall Street were honoured with these top regional awards.
Despite this local success, the overall national winner was Gateshead's Raval Indian Brasserie and Bar, which judges praised as 'a benchmark of refined Indian cuisine grounded in place, precision and northern hospitality'.
