American Food Court Emerges at Birmingham New Street Station
A new outdoor American food court has taken over the space outside Birmingham New Street Station, following the confirmation that Taco Bell is moving in. This Mexican-style restaurant, highly popular in the USA, marks its first city centre branch in Birmingham.
New Additions to the Food Scene
The Taco Bell location is situated right next door to the Louisiana fried chicken joint Popeyes, which has featured an outdoor seating area since it opened in July last year. Together, they create a vibrant little court with enviable views towards the historic Odeon, the Bullring, and up to the Rotunda.
While no official open date has been announced for Taco Bell at the time of writing, it is understood that the launch is expected to take place at the end of April.
Greggs Expands Its Presence
In related news, Greggs has revealed plans to open a brand new branch inside New Street Station. Although the exact location is not yet confirmed, rumours suggest it will take over the former Boots store, following its move to the other side of the concourse.
Greggs has yet to reveal its full plans, but an anonymous source indicated it will include indoor seating for travellers. The bakery already maintains a presence inside the station with a kiosk near the Stephenson Street entrance.
Other Changes in the Area
Additionally, a juice bar upstairs in Grand Central has closed this week, according to signage. Fuel has shut its branch there, though it still operates a location in the Bullring.
The Bullring location, opposite Sephora, is soon to be joined by a branch of Joe And The Juice, which has set its sights on the former Soho Coffee unit.
