A major bar group with multiple venues across Birmingham has set a critical deadline for potential buyers, as it battles to secure its future after putting itself up for sale.
Sale Deadline and Potential Buyers Emerge
The Revel Collective, which operates 62 sites under brands including Revolution, Revolucion de Cuba, and Peach Pubs, has told interested parties they must submit offers by January 9. The group was officially put on the market in October 2025. According to reports, one of the parties to have expressed interest is Neos Hospitality, a leading UK operator of late-night venues.
City sources indicate that if the company cannot complete deals to sell its assets, it faces the serious prospect of collapse. This comes after a previous sales process was launched in 2024 only to be abandoned when an offer from rival group Nightcap was rejected.
A History of Restructuring and Ongoing Challenges
The company's troubles are not new. In 2024, it undertook a major restructuring approved by the High Court, which involved the closure of 36 locations. Despite this drastic action, bosses reported in October 2025 that persistent "challenging economic conditions" and specific "Government interventions in the last budget" had thwarted recovery efforts.
The company stated that cost-cutting and margin improvements were insufficient to counter policy changes, including alterations to the employer National Insurance Contributions threshold, increases to the minimum wage, and higher duty on spirits.
Financial Performance and Market Pressures
The financial figures reveal the scale of the struggle. For the three months leading to September 2025, revenues fell by 7.4% to £26.3 million. This was driven primarily by a sharp 10.5% drop in like-for-like sales within its core bars business.
Concurrently, the company's debt burden increased, rising to £25.3 million from £22.1 million at the end of June. Management pointed to the severe impact of the cost-of-living crisis on its core younger customer demographic as a key factor behind falling sales at its venues.
The coming days, leading up to the January 9 deadline, will now be decisive for the future of this prominent bar chain and its staff across Birmingham and the UK.
