Birmingham Bar Creates 'World's First' Guinness Kebab for Six Nations
Birmingham Bar Launches Guinness Kebab for Six Nations

A popular Birmingham bar is making culinary history by launching what it claims to be the 'world's first' Guinness kebab, perfectly timed for the upcoming Six Nations rugby tournament.

A Bold Fusion of Pub Classics

BOX bar, located in the vibrant Brindley Place area, is celebrating the sporting season with a unique limited edition menu item. The creation features a beef kofta kebab that has been meticulously marinated in Guinness, imparting a deep, rich flavour to the meat that echoes the iconic stout.

Crafted with Care

The culinary innovation doesn't stop at the marinade. Each kebab is carefully wrapped in a handmade flatbread, then generously drizzled with a sticky homemade Guinness chipotle glaze. The dish is finished with a refreshing topping of fresh mint yoghurt, creating a complex flavour profile.

To complete the meal, customers can choose from three side options for an additional £2.50:

  • House fries
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Salt and pepper fries

More Than Just a Meal

This isn't merely a kebab that tastes like Guinness; it's been designed to visually resemble the famous pint as well, adding an element of playful presentation to the dining experience.

Priced from £12.95, the Guinness kebab will be available at the Brindley Place BOX bar and all other sites across the country from February 5 until March 14, covering the duration of the Six Nations championship.

The Vision Behind the Creation

Tom Mayer-Jones, brand and marketing manager at BOX, explained the thinking behind this innovative dish: "Our new Guinness kebab is a playful nod to our Irish friends ahead of the Six Nations, whilst also tapping into our favourite night out food as Brits - the kebab!"

"We've brought these two things together in a way that feels true to BOX - bold, social, and a meal designed to be enjoyed alongside big sporting moments. We're inviting everyone down to BOX to watch the rugby and enjoy our new menu item."

The Perfect Sporting Venue

BOX bar sits at the heart of Brindley Place and has established itself as a popular destination for sports enthusiasts. The venue streams Sky, TNT and Box Office sporting events, meaning visitors can sample the Guinness kebab while enjoying live rugby coverage.

For those less interested in sports, the bar offers alternative entertainment options including Shuffleboard games with friends or lively karaoke sessions, making it a versatile social hub for various preferences.

This innovative menu addition represents a creative celebration of sporting culture and British pub traditions, offering both locals and visitors a unique culinary experience during the Six Nations season.
