A colossal new food hall destined for one of Birmingham's most creative quarters has announced its first wave of exciting vendors. Named Alfred Works, the ambitious venue is scheduled to open its doors in 2026 within the iconic Custard Factory complex in Digbeth.

A New Culinary Destination for Digbeth

This is not just another restaurant opening. Alfred Works represents a major new hospitality investment for the city, promising to become a significant draw for food lovers. The development is being spearheaded by the experienced team behind Blend Family, which operates successful similar venues in London and Manchester.

The scale of the project is substantial. The site will cover an impressive 17,500 square feet and is designed to be a multifaceted social space. As well as the 15 individual kitchens, plans include a large outdoor courtyard, dedicated family-friendly areas, and zones for social gaming, ensuring it caters to a wide audience.

The First Three Vendors Making Their Birmingham Debut

The first three confirmed kitchen operators share a notable distinction: each will be making their debut in Birmingham and the wider Midlands region. This aligns with the operator's vision to introduce the local community to unique, independent brands with rich cultural stories.

Leading the line-up is Fuego 1987, a brand celebrated for its viral Birria Ramen – a fusion dish marrying Mexican flavours with a deeply savoury, slow-cooked beef broth – alongside its generously stacked tacos.

They will be joined by two vendors offering authentic tastes from further afield. Baity will serve genuine Palestinian street food, while House of Habesha will specialise in the distinctive and communal dining traditions of Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine.
