A beloved Birmingham pizzeria, celebrated by locals as one of the city's finest, has temporarily shut its doors to undergo a significant expansion. Amore Pizzeria and Caffetteria on St Marys Row in Moseley will be closed for approximately two weeks while building work takes place.
From Humble Beginnings to Local Favourite
Since opening its doors in June 2023, Amore has carved out a stellar reputation for authentic Neapolitan cuisine. The bring-your-own-bottle (BYOB) establishment quickly won over diners with its cosy, family-dining-room atmosphere and critically acclaimed pizzas. Its success is quantified by an impressive 4.8 out of five stars on Google reviews and a coveted place on the BirminghamLive '26 restaurants to try in 2026' list.
Bigger, Better, and Brimming with New Ideas
The temporary closure is all in service of an ambitious extension at the rear of the premises. Owners have pledged to return 'bigger and better', with the extra space enabling a host of new offerings. Plans include an expanded cocktail menu, the introduction of wine tasting experiences, and a broader food menu. Breakfast items will be added, alongside what the team describes as 'exciting new Neapolitan dishes'.
Customers Cheer the News
Reaction to the announcement on social media has been overwhelmingly positive, with regulars expressing excitement for the pizzeria's next chapter. One follower, Angie, commented: "Can't wait! You had me at 'cocktails'!" Another, Jon Bertram, added: "This is brilliant news, cannot wait to pop in!" Food blogger Eats_WithChanel also shared their support, writing: "Can't wait, so excited for this! Tanti auguri!"
While an exact reopening date is still to be confirmed, with details promised on the Amore Instagram page, fans need not go completely without. The restaurant's pizzas will continue to be available from their kiosk inside the Society food hall near Snow Hill Station during the refurbishment period.
