Titash Restaurant in Birmingham Celebrates Prestigious West Midlands Award
An iconic Indian restaurant in Birmingham has expressed overwhelming joy after being honored as the best in the West Midlands region. Titash Restaurant, located on Coventry Road in Sheldon, received the coveted Best of the West Midlands title at the Nation's Curry Awards ceremony held on February 9 at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield.
Decades of Dedication Culminate in Major Recognition
Founded nearly forty years ago by Athik Ali, Titash Restaurant has been a beloved culinary staple in the Sheldon community. The award was accepted by Jameel Ali, son of the founder, who described the moment as a huge privilege and expressed disbelief at the achievement.
We couldn't believe it. We were over the moon, Jameel told local media. We didn't think that it would be possible to win such an amazing award and come out as one of the best curry houses in the Midlands, because the competition is so big.
Authentic Cuisine and Community Connection
Jameel emphasized that the restaurant's success stems from its commitment to authentic Indian cuisine, blending influences from various Asian regions while maintaining traditional flavors. We try to keep our food authentic to Indian, he explained. We try to keep a variety where there's some South Asian, there's some North Indian. There's a bit of everything in there, but we try to keep it as authentic as we can.
The award holds significant meaning for both the local community and the broader Asian population in Birmingham. For our community, it's a massive, massive thing to come out with an award, Jameel beamed, highlighting how the restaurant bridges cultural roots from Bangladesh to diverse Asian traditions.
Strategic Location and Global Appeal
Situated just a stone's throw away from the NEC and Birmingham Airport, Titash has become a popular destination for travelers from around the world. Its convenient location makes it a hotspot for both international visitors and local residents, contributing to its widespread recognition.
Gratitude to Customers and Future Aspirations
While praising the skilled chefs at the venue, Jameel made sure to acknowledge the crucial role of loyal customers in achieving this milestone. We wouldn't be here without our customers. At the end of the day, that's what it's all down to, he stated. We really appreciate the support and the community. It's only upwards and onwards from here.
The restaurant's owners view this award as a testament to nearly four decades of hard work and dedication, promising to continue delivering exceptional dining experiences while honoring their culinary heritage.
