Birmingham's Beloved Cafe Lovelife Closes Permanently After Two Years
Cafe Lovelife in Digbeth Shuts Down Permanently

In a sad turn of events for Birmingham's food scene, Cafe Lovelife, a cherished restaurant located on Floodgate Street in Digbeth, has announced its permanent closure. The establishment, which opened in October 2023, ceased trading on Sunday, February 1, leaving customers with cancelled bookings, including those for Valentine's Day.

Sudden Closure and Customer Notifications

Patrons who had reserved tables at Cafe Lovelife were informed via email through DesignMyNight, the booking management service used by the restaurant. The message expressed regret over the shutdown, stating that the final day of operation was February 1, and all future bookings could not be honoured. It thanked customers for their support and understanding during the restaurant's tenure.

A Popular Spot for Brunch and More

Cafe Lovelife had quickly become a favourite among Brummies, earning a 4.7-star rating on Google. Reviewers frequently praised the venue for its welcoming and friendly staff, fantastic food, and superb drinks. Housed in a converted old car garage, the restaurant featured a pretty pink and green dining room and offered a Mediterranean-inspired menu, specialising in brunches, Sunday roasts, and coffee.

Owners Confirm the Shutdown

Will Power and Damien Dixon, the owners behind Lab 11 nightclub who launched Cafe Lovelife with promises of the best breakfasts in Digbeth, confirmed the closure. Mr Power told BirminghamLive that no further details would be shared at this time, but expressed gratitude to the team, customers, and supporters. As of now, the restaurant's social media pages and website have not been updated with the news, and all future booking dates are blocked with messages indicating an inability to take reservations.

Future Projects in Digbeth

Despite the closure of Cafe Lovelife, the team is not stepping away from the Digbeth area. They are currently involved in renovating another historic building, the old O'Rourkes pub, which has been closed for eight years. This project will transform it into The Digger's Arms, though an official opening date has yet to be announced.
