Dee Valley Real Ale Train Returns for 2026 Season

The much-loved Ales From Wales: The Dee Valley Real Ale Train is set to make a triumphant return to the Llangollen and Corwen Railway this April, promising an unforgettable evening that masterfully blends heritage steam travel with a vibrant beer festival atmosphere. Relaunched by overwhelming popular demand, this unique event will kick off on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, and will continue to run monthly throughout the entire season, with tickets for all services now available for purchase.

A Scenic Journey with a Festive Spirit

The evening's festivities commence at 5pm with the grand opening of the Station Master’s Marquee, strategically positioned on the station ramp at Llangollen. From the very moment guests arrive, they are immersed in an authentic beer festival setting, where a broad and impressive selection of real ales from Wales-based breweries awaits tasting before the historic train even departs.

The Steam-Hauled Adventure Begins

At precisely 6.30pm, the steam locomotive will chug out of Llangollen station, embarking on its picturesque journey towards Corwen. Upon arrival at Corwen, passengers are invited to disembark and enjoy a refreshing drink at a special pop-up Waiting Room Bar set up directly on the platform. This innovative stop enhances the festival vibe and provides a perfect opportunity for attendees to fully appreciate their stunning surroundings.

Mid-Journey Refreshments and Return

The adventure continues as the train makes its return journey, featuring a delightful 45-minute stop at Glyndyfrdwy Railway Station. Here, passengers can sample further refreshments in the popular and charming Porter’s Bar before the final leg of the trip brings everyone back to the starting point at Llangollen.

Live Music and Enhanced Value

The experience culminates back at Llangollen with live performances from talented local artists, providing the perfect finale to what organisers proudly describe as a true beer festival on rails. As part of the exciting relaunch, the ticket price has been significantly reduced from £30 to just £20, offering even greater value for money. Each ticket includes the first pint free of charge and a branded Llangollen Railway Train glass for passengers to keep as a souvenir. Due to the intimate nature of the event, numbers are strictly limited, making early booking highly advisable.

Organiser's Enthusiastic Vision

James Veal from Llangollen and Corwen Railway shared his enthusiasm, stating: "Ales From Wales is not merely a train ride; it is a comprehensive experience from the moment people arrive at the station. The Station Master’s Marquee on the ramp creates a genuine beer festival atmosphere before you even step on board. You are presented with a huge choice of Welsh real ales, a steam locomotive at the head of the train, and one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the country ahead of you."

He continued, "The stop in Corwen, with its pop-up Waiting Room Bar on the platform, allows people to step off and soak in the setting, while the stop at Glyndyfrdwy lets passengers enjoy Porter’s Bar, which adds something truly special to the evening. Then you return to Llangollen with live music playing and everyone in great spirits. We genuinely believe this is the best party in Wales. It celebrates Welsh brewing, our rich railway heritage, and offers people a night out they simply cannot replicate anywhere else."
