A major Midlands theme park has taken the decision to shut its gates this weekend, prioritising visitor safety ahead of forecast heavy snowfall.
Park Announces Proactive Closure
Drayton Manor Park will not open to the public on Sunday, January 4, 2026. The park's management stated the closure is a direct response to predicted inclement weather, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for snow across the region.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the park explained: "Due to inclement weather, and for the safety and wellbeing of our guests, we'll be closed on Sunday, January 4, 2026." They emphasised that "your safety comes first."
Weather Forecast and Impact
The Met Office alert warns that a band of snow will move into the West Midlands from Wales on Sunday. Forecasters predict flurries could begin from around 4pm on Sunday afternoon and persist into the early hours of Monday morning.
In the worst-affected areas, accumulations of up to 8cm (3 inches) are possible, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.
Rescheduling and Future Plans
The park had been operating on selected dates over the Christmas and New Year school holiday period. Its closure on Sunday now marks the end of its winter opening schedule.
All guests with existing bookings for the affected date will receive codes to reschedule their visit for the February half term. Drayton Manor Park is scheduled to reopen for its full 2026 season on Saturday, February 14.
The park's management thanked visitors for their patience and expressed eagerness to welcome them back soon under safer conditions.
