Family Banned from Holiday Park Entertainment on Final Night Due to 'Attitude'

A frustrated mother from Cornwall has described a holiday park as "disgusting" after staff prevented her family from attending the final evening's entertainment during their weekend stay. Ellen Jones, 40, from Camborne, has lodged a formal complaint regarding her experience at the Parkdean Resort's Lizard Point Holiday Park in Ruan Minor, claiming the ban was unjust and linked to a prior incident involving a missing child.

Incident Leading to the Ban

Ms Jones explained that she booked the weekend for herself and her family, while her sister booked separately for her own family. During the stay, one of her teenage nieces went missing for about an hour, prompting her sister to seek help from security. According to Ms Jones, the security guard responded with an attitude, suggesting they call the police since a child was missing. Fortunately, the niece was found safe shortly after.

The family attended the evening entertainment that night but felt they were being watched, though they tried not to let it bother them. However, on the final evening, they were shocked when security turned them away from the entertainment venue. Ms Jones claims they were told it was due to their "attitude," which she disputes, stating they had done nothing wrong.

Formal Complaint and Family's Response

Since the incident, Ms Jones has filed a formal complaint, arguing that the ban was a direct result of her reporting the security guard's behaviour during the missing child situation. She insists she was well within her rights to raise concerns and has requested a review of CCTV footage to prove her family was never discourteous, though she has not yet received a response.

"I feel like I'm being pushed from pillar to post," Ellen added. "We couldn't see the last night of entertainment that we've paid for. It's disgusting. There was no attitude whatsoever from our family." Her children and nieces were extremely upset, as they had been looking forward to seeing the characters and enjoying the show.

Holiday Park's Statement

A spokesperson for Lizard Point Holiday Park responded to the allegations, stating: "The family were restricted from entering the entertainment venue due to inappropriate behaviour towards our staff. The safety and wellbeing of our team and guests is always our priority, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour." The park maintains that the restriction was necessary to uphold their standards and protect staff, without providing further details on the specific behaviour cited.

This case highlights ongoing tensions between guest expectations and park policies in the hospitality sector, with both sides presenting conflicting accounts of the events that led to the ban.
