Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa Enters Administration Amid Sale Search
A prominent Midlands hotel and spa has collapsed into administration, placing its future in jeopardy while administrators work to secure a buyer. The Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa, which employed approximately 120 people in the year ending 2024, is now under the control of joint administrators from FRP Advisory.
Administration Details and Current Operations
Anthony Simmons and Ian Corfield of FRP Advisory have been appointed as joint administrators for the East Midlands establishment. In a statement, the administrators confirmed that all employees have been retained and that all existing bookings are currently being honoured. This move aims to maintain business continuity while a sale process is underway.
Anthony Simmons, director at FRP and joint administrator, commented: "The Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa is a high-quality venue with an excellent reputation and a strong presence in the local market. We’re actively seeking a buyer and are focused on securing a positive outcome that preserves the business and protects jobs."
Sale Process and Bid Deadline
The sale of the hotel and spa is being managed by Matt Hill, senior business agent at Christie & Co. Hill encouraged interested parties to come forward, stating: "We welcome interested parties to contact us for more information about this opportunity. There is a bid deadline of 26 January 2026." This tight timeline underscores the urgency of finding a new owner to ensure the venue's survival.
Guest Reviews and Reputation
Despite the financial difficulties, the hotel has maintained a strong reputation among guests, as evidenced by numerous glowing reviews. One guest awarded a perfect 5/5 rating, praising the spa services: "I had a massage and full body scrub at the spa. It was bloody fantastic!" They also noted the friendly staff and clean rooms, concluding: "Overall experience was 11/10 for the price we paid."
Another review highlighted the welcoming atmosphere: "I genuinely can’t sing the praises of this hotel high enough. From the moment I walked through the door I couldn’t have felt more welcome." A third guest commended the value and service, particularly for events: "Stayed two nights for a friends wedding. Service from all staff was impeccable. The wedding itself was fantastic."
These testimonials reflect the hotel's high standards in hospitality, which administrators hope will attract potential buyers looking to invest in a well-regarded Midlands property.
