Rubery Indian Restaurant Aims to Restore Dine-In Service Following Noise Complaint

A well-loved Indian restaurant in Rubery is preparing to welcome back sit-down customers after a solitary noise complaint led to the temporary closure of its dine-in area.

Delhi 45 Indian Streatery, located on New Road, has reverted to operating solely as a takeaway while its owners navigate the planning permission process for their kitchen at the rear of the building.

Planning Application in Progress

In a recent Facebook update, the restaurant announced it is "working hard behind the scenes to get everything approved" and expressed hope that diners will soon be able to enjoy meals on-site again.

The establishment, originally known as Jolli Indian Takeaway to locals, was transformed into a dine-in restaurant in May 2021 under its new identity, Delhi 45.

"For a number of years, the restaurant operated smoothly and without any issues," the post stated.

"However, following a noise complaint from a local resident (who no longer resides in the area), we were required to apply for planning permission to operate our kitchen at the rear of the building in order to continue trading as a restaurant."

As a result, the decision was made in December 2025 to switch back to a takeaway-only service while the application is processed.

Customer Reactions and Support

The news of a potential dine-in reopening has been met with enthusiasm from loyal patrons.

  • Kirsten Lancaster commented: "Brilliant news."
  • Steve Neal posted: "The sooner the better."
  • Ruth Orme said: "Brilliant news. We miss eating in. Your restaurant is a big loss to the high street."
  • Cain Mazur wrote: "Definitely need this it's not as if you blasting music to all hours .it's giving people the opportunity to come dine in with you fingers crossed."
  • Loz J Lambert shared: "Me and my wife used to order from here lots. And have eaten in a few times. Wasn't even aware the restaurant has closed to that complaint. The food generally was always lovely."

The restaurant emphasized its appreciation for customer support during this transitional period, noting that "it honestly means everything to us."

With the planning application now in motion with the local authority, Delhi 45 anticipates reopening its doors for full dine-in service once approval is granted.
