A new Sicilian restaurant, drawing direct inspiration from a real Italian grandmother's cherished recipes, is preparing to welcome diners in Birmingham's celebrated Jewellery Quarter. Named Vieni, which translates to 'come in', the establishment aims to transport guests straight to a Sicilian nonna's dining table, challenging preconceptions that the region's cuisine is limited to pizza and pasta.
Authentic Flavours in Birmingham's Premier Neighbourhood
Vieni has secured a prime location at The Goodsyard development on Pitsford Street, marking the first hospitality venue to open within this new complex. This launch is particularly notable as the Jewellery Quarter was recently crowned the best place to live in Birmingham, adding significant prestige to the restaurant's debut. The 1,485 square foot space has been carefully designed to seat 40 guests, blending traditional Sicilian warmth with contemporary flair.
A Menu Steeped in Tradition and Family Heritage
The culinary direction is personally overseen by chef-owner Angelina Adamo, whose expertise stems from a decade working in Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels, and various professional kitchens. Her vision for Vieni is deeply personal, rooted in the cooking of her own Sicilian grandmother. The menu promises a genuine taste of Sicily, featuring standout dishes such as whole sea bass, chargrilled beef ribs, and beloved classics like arancini, cannoli, and a tiramisu soaked in Marsala wine.
Angelina Adamo shared her enthusiasm, stating: "Vieni allows me to bring my Nonna's cooking into a restaurant setting for the first time. Seeing that vision realised in my first permanent space is incredibly special. I can't wait to showcase that Sicilian food is so much more than just pizza and pasta!"
An Atmosphere of Welcoming Warmth and Disco Glamour
The interior design masterfully mixes homely Sicilian inspiration with playful modern elements. An open kitchen forms the heart of the room, equipped with a Bertha charcoal oven and accented by Sicilian-themed wallpaper. In a striking contrast, a statement disco ball hangs overhead, casting flickering light across the dining area—a touch the owner envisioned the moment sunlight flooded the empty site.
This light dances across 60 unique, hand-made plates crafted by potter Sarah Jane of Moulded by Sarah Jane, each adorned with personalised slogans like 'VIENI, BAB'. The drinks menu complements the food perfectly, featuring Italian spritzes, liqueurs, and affogatos, while coffee is brewed in traditional moka pots and served with brioche and sharp lemon granita, alongside a modern Ferrari-red coffee machine.
A Team Built on Shared Passion and Detailed Planning
Vieni represents Angelina Adamo's first brick-and-mortar restaurant, a significant step for her existing business, Tutto Apposto, which has operated private dining events and previously managed the Birmingham Hippodrome's Circle Lounge. She is joined by manager Charlotte Carter, with whom she has meticulously planned every detail.
Manager Charlotte Carter explained: "We've been sketching ideas on napkins from the very beginning—menus, colours, the team, the atmosphere. Vieni is about warmth, generosity, and making people feel instantly at home. We're so proud to be the flagship hospitality opening in The Goodsyard."
The restaurant is now taking bookings ahead of its official opening to the public on Saturday, February 7, inviting Birmingham's food lovers to experience a heartfelt, authentic slice of Sicilian hospitality.
