Birmingham City Council has announced it will sell a substantial cleared plot of land, the former home of a prominent special school, at a public auction next month.
Prime Development Opportunity in Kingstanding
The site of the former Oscott Manor School on Old Oscott Hill in Kingstanding is set to go under the hammer. The vacant freehold plot spans more than 1.6 acres and comes with a guide price of £750,000 or more.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of the auctioneers Bond Wolfe, outlined the site's potential. He confirmed that the old school premises, which served as a secondary school for children with an autism diagnosis, were demolished and cleared last year. This was after the school relocated to newly built premises on Reservoir Road in Erdington back in 2022.
Auction Details and Expected Interest
The sale is a key part of Birmingham City Council's ongoing programme to dispose of surplus assets. The gated site is now a blank canvas, ready for a new chapter.
Mr Bassi stated: "We are expecting considerable interest from property developers and investors in our auction." He emphasised that, subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions, the land could be suitable for a variety of development uses.
The auction is scheduled for Wednesday, 10 December, starting at 8.30am. It will be a livestreamed event, allowing remote bidding via proxy, telephone, or the internet through Bond Wolfe's website. The Oscott Manor School site will be one of numerous lots presented during the sale.
