Aldi New Year Opening Times 2025/26

Shoppers across the UK are being urged to take note of Aldi's revised opening hours over the New Year period. The discount supermarket has issued a clear schedule for the final days of 2025 and the start of 2026, with early closures and a full day's shutdown planned.

Aldi's Festive Opening Schedule

The retailer, which gave its colleagues time off for Christmas, is now operating standard hours until New Year's Eve. All Aldi stores will shut their doors at 6pm on Wednesday, December 31st, giving customers a final opportunity to stock up for celebrations.

The supermarket will then remain closed throughout New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1st, before reopening as normal on Friday, January 2nd. On that Friday, stores will welcome customers from 8am until 10pm.

Key Dates and Times for Your Diary

To help with planning, here is Aldi's confirmed schedule for the week:

  • Monday 29th & Tuesday 30th December: Open 8am - 8pm
  • Wednesday 31st December (New Year's Eve): Open 8am - 6pm
  • Thursday 1st January (New Year's Day): Closed
  • Friday 2nd January: Open 8am - 10pm

Aldi strongly advises customers to check their local store's specific hours online, as some locations may have slight variations.

A Season of Accolades and Community Support

This update comes as Aldi celebrates another successful festive season, bolstered by significant industry recognition. The chain, confirmed by Which? as the UK's Cheapest Supermarket for the fourth year running, has also been named Christmas Retailer of the Year at the Quality Food Awards for a sixth consecutive time.

Further praise came from Good Housekeeping, which awarded Aldi the title of Best Value Retailer for Christmas 2025. Its products shone in the Good Housekeeping Institute's Christmas Taste Test, winning 20 accolades. Standout award-winners included its Specially Selected Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets and Specially Selected Ultimate Wagyu Fat Roast Potatoes.

Beyond awards, Aldi continues its commitment to supporting communities. Through its partnership with Neighbourly, the supermarket expects to donate an estimated one million meals to those in need over the festive period. This initiative involves local food banks collecting surplus food after early closures on both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Plan Your Shop

With limited trading hours on New Year's Eve and a full closure the following day, customers are encouraged to plan their essential shopping trips accordingly. Aldi's combination of award-winning festive fare, value-driven prices, and community focus ensures it remains a key destination for shoppers seeing in the New Year.
