A popular baby goods retailer has ceased trading, shutting all its physical stores in a significant blow to local communities across the East of England.
Chain Enters Insolvency After Efforts to Survive
My Baby LTD, a chain with branches in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, has entered insolvency and closed its doors. The company, which was first established in 2020, sold a range of products for infants, including pushchairs and teethers.
Owner and director Alex Harper issued a statement confirming the situation. He expressed great sadness and apologised for the distress caused to customers, many of whom are local community members who regularly visited the stores.
Customer Concerns and Refund Process
The closure initially sparked concern among customers, with one telling the Peterborough Telegraph they had called 15 times in one day without answer and feared refunds were not being issued. However, Harper has since stated that the majority of refunds have now been processed.
In his statement, Harper advised that customers with outstanding orders should be contacted directly. He outlined that many customers should be able to recover payments via chargebacks or Section 75 claims, depending on their original payment method. Those needing further assistance are directed to email sales@mybabyltd.co.uk.
"We Tried Everything," Says Devastated Owner
Explaining the collapse, the company told The Sun that they attempted every possible measure to stay afloat. This included the owner taking out a personal loan to inject funds into the business as recently as last week.
"We are devastated that we were unable to make it through the extremely tough economic period we were facing," the statement read. The unexpected insolvency marks the end for the retailer, which cited the harsh trading environment as the ultimate cause of its failure.
Customers impacted by the liquidation are urged to contact their bank to request a chargeback or to check their eligibility for a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
