BT Mobile Returns With New SIM Deals for Broadband Customers

BT is bringing back a major service for millions of customers nearly three years after it was axed by the provider. After stopping new sign-ups in October 2023, BT Mobile is returning with a range of new SIM deals.

Ernest Doku, telecoms expert at Uswitch.com, commented on the relaunch: "BT Mobile is back - at least for existing broadband customers - and it's being used to make BT's customers harder to poach." He added, "If the pricing stacks up, many households will find it easier and cheaper to keep everything under one roof rather than hunting for a better SIM deal elsewhere."

Doku noted that the key question is whether the deals can compete with smaller providers who often undercut the big players on price. "But the proof will be in the delivery - although massive investments into infrastructure and marketing alike will aim to stoke the nation's embers of love for a decades-long household brand. Ultimately, consumers will judge the revamped BT on whether these promises translate into real improvements in reliability and value."

The relaunch comes after BT raised prices last month for mobile plans, handsets, broadband, and TV plans. The annual price increases include a £2.50 rise for mobile SIM-only and airtime plans, a £4 increase for handset plans, and a £1.50 hike for connected device plans such as laptops, tablets, watches, and mobile broadband. 4G/5G Home Broadband plans will rise by £4, while broadband plans are hiked by £4. EE TV plans and landline-only plans will each rise by £2.

One in four broadband customers are out of contract, paying up to £9 per month more than those in contract. Customers who are out of contract are free to leave and find a better deal. If you want to stay with your current provider, it is advisable to contact them and ask what they can offer at a lower price.
