A major greeting card retailer has launched a dramatic closing down sale at one of its popular branches, with the store set to shut its doors permanently in the new year.
Final Farewell for Didcot's Cardzone
The Cardzone store located within the Didcot Shopping Centre in Oxfordshire will cease trading on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The impending closure has been confirmed to customers via a sign displayed in the shop window, which reads "Store closing. Everything must go." This announcement confirms fears that had been circulating among local shoppers regarding the branch's future.
Half-Price Sale to Clear Stock
In the lead-up to the final closure date, the store is holding a significant stock clearance event. Shoppers can now find discounted goodies with reductions of up to 50 per cent off as the company aims to clear its remaining inventory. The 'everything must go' sale offers a final opportunity for customers to pick up cards, gifts, and other items at bargain prices.
This closure occurs amidst a period of change for the Didcot Shopping Centre. Recent modifications include the relocation of outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse and the opening of a Hotel Chocolat store just last month.
A Family-Run Business with National Reach
Cardzone operates over 175 shops across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The group was first established in 2005 and remains a family-owned and run business. Founder Paul Taylor still serves as the company's Managing Director.
Earlier this year, the brand celebrated the inaugural winner of its 'Store of the Year' award in the East Midlands. In a statement, Paul Taylor expressed pride in the family nature of the business, noting that two of his children have joined the Cardzone team. He said, "I am very grateful to the entire Cardzone team for making this journey possible. Stay tuned as there are some exciting ventures ahead with Cardzone."
The closure of the Didcot branch represents a reduction in the chain's physical presence in Oxfordshire, though the wider business continues to trade from numerous other locations.
