Flourish Farm Shop and Café Near Bath Named Best in the UK
A farm shop and café located near Bath has been awarded the prestigious title of the best in the United Kingdom. Flourish, situated at Farleigh Road in Norton St Philip, received this honour at the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards this week.
Background and Establishment
Flourish first opened its doors in November 2024 as a sister site to Flourish at Glenavon Farm in Saltford, which was established three years earlier in repurposed dairy buildings. The business was founded by Paul Hargreaves, the chief executive of fine food wholesaler Cotswold Fayre; retail and hospitality director Paul Castle; and Adam Stratton, the owner of Glenavon Farm.
Operations and Recognition
Last year, Flourish launched its own production kitchen at Farleigh Road, supplying both locations with homemade items such as scotch eggs, sausage rolls, sponge cakes, and cookies, all crafted using locally sourced ingredients. The shop offers a wide variety of artisan food and drink products, complemented by a kitchen that serves freshly prepared seasonal dishes.
The judges commended the business for its dedication to championing British produce, its commitment to sustainable sourcing practices, and providing an exceptional customer experience. Finalists were chosen through a detailed judging programme, with the ultimate decision based on a mystery shopper visit to both the shop and café.
Team Celebration and Additional Accolades
Samantha Riddington, general manager of the Farleigh Road site, expressed her pride, stating: “This award is a testament to our brilliant team who worked so hard through challenging times to get us to where we are now. We’re thrilled to receive this award, especially in our first full year of trading as Flourish, and this achievement is a great boost for the team who go above and beyond every day.”
In addition to winning the top prize, Flourish was also a finalist in two other categories and received high commendation in the Newcomer of the Year category, further highlighting its outstanding performance in the competitive retail sector.
