Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Birmingham Shuts Down Abruptly After 15 Years
Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Birmingham Shuts Abruptly

The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill at The Cube in Birmingham has closed with immediate effect, along with the Cube Hotel, ending a 15-year presence in the city centre. The skyline restaurant, known for its 360-degree panoramic views from the 25th floor, shut down on Tuesday, June 23, leaving customers divided over the news.

Customers React to Closure

While some expressed shock and sadness, calling it their 'special place', others said they saw it coming, particularly criticising a policy of charging extra for window seats. Linda Jones commented on Birmingham Live's Facebook post: 'Not surprised, when a friend dined there and asked to sit by the window they wanted to charge them.' Samantha Lenten Ne Wilson echoed: 'Went to Marco Pierre whites because of the view … and were flabbergasted to be charged £5 each if we wanted a window seat.'

However, Priy Ah wrote: 'Oh no, I loved the afternoon tea at the cube. I use to go there for drinks on the balcony.' Liam Giles tagged Stephanie Deavall and said: 'Our special place gone.'

Official Announcement

A notice outside the venue confirmed the sudden closure: 'We regret to inform you that, with immediate effect, The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Birmingham have ceased trading and are now closed. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.' Queries were directed to thecubehotel@quantuma.com, with the notice adding that MSHA Global Investments Limited (trading as The Cube Hotel) is managed by joint administrators acting as agents of the company.

Broader Context

Multiple Marco Pierre White-branded restaurants have ceased trading and entered liquidation or administration, operating through franchise agreements with Black & White Hospitality. The venue had been a long-standing fixture alongside the 52-bedroom hotel at The Cube in the Mailbox district. Earlier this year, Knight Frank was appointed to sell the hotel and restaurant on behalf of joint administrators Richard Easterby and Nick Simmonds of Quantuma Advisory LTD.

It remains unclear what will happen next with the vacant floors at The Cube, with no indication whether new operators will take over the hotel or restaurant space. BirminghamLive has contacted The Cube and the restaurant's press office for comment.
