Marks & Spencer has unveiled a major new retail destination in the West Midlands, strategically timed for the crucial Christmas shopping period. The expansive new M&S Foodhall opened to the public in Cannock on Thursday, December 4, offering locals a significantly upgraded shopping experience.
A Festive Launch for a Substantial New Store
The new branch is situated at Unit 1 Voyager Drive within the Orbital Retail Park. It represents a substantial investment, occupying an 18,000 square foot unit that was previously a Homebase store. This opening marks a notable expansion for M&S in the area, as the new Foodhall is triple the size of the retailer's previous Cannock food store at Unit 4, which ceased trading on Tuesday evening.
Store Manager Mat Stephenson, a Staffordshire local, expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s been amazing to showcase the new store to our customers this morning and the festive cheer has been fantastic. Now triple the size of our previous store, we can truly offer the very best of M&S Food, with the unbeatable quality we’re known for.” He extended thanks to his team for their preparation and welcomed customers to experience "M&S magic" this Christmas.
What Shoppers Can Find Inside
The newly opened Foodhall boasts the full traditional M&S food range, designed to cater to festive needs and everyday shopping. Key features include:
- An in-store bakery and a dedicated coffee counter serving barista-made hot and iced drinks, such as a seasonal Spiced Turmeric Latte.
- A hot chicken counter offering rotisserie chicken.
- A sushi area providing a variety of Japanese options.
- Extensive fruit and vegetable sections highlighting seasonal produce.
- A combined Flower and Wine shop.
Part of a National Expansion Strategy
This launch is significant on a national scale. The M&S Cannock store is the first of 12 former Homebase units that the retail giant is converting into larger food stores across Britain. This nationwide programme is set to create over 550 jobs. The Cannock location is also one of more than 20 new or renewed stores opening in the second half of M&S's current financial year.
The store's opening hours are 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Customers are advised to check for any changes over the Christmas period via the official M&S website or mobile app.
