Quality Street has decided to remove a beloved Christmas service for the second year running, despite receiving numerous pleas from shoppers to keep it. The festive favourite, known for its colourful selection of sweets, is discontinuing the option for customers to create their own personalised tins at John Lewis stores.
The End of a Festive Tradition
Previously, fans of the Nestlé-owned brand could visit their local John Lewis and use a dedicated pick-and-mix counter to fill a personalised tin. For £17, shoppers received a tin featuring a customised gift card and lid, which they could then fill with their preferred Quality Street chocolates.
This year, however, that hands-on experience has been axed. Instead, customers will be offered a custom-printed ribbon to wrap around their pre-selected tins. The change comes as Quality Street introduces a new limited edition sweet to its line-up, adding an element of surprise to the festive season.
A New Sweet Mystery for Christmas 2025
In a festive first, the flavour of the new sweet will remain a complete mystery until December. It joins last year's popular addition, the Coffee Creme, and will be available exclusively at John Lewis and Waitrose stores across the country.
The mystery sweet will feature at the returning pick and mix stations, allowing shoppers to include it in a bespoke selection alongside the classic 11 favourites. For those who adored the Coffee Creme, it will still be available in the Oxford Street pick and mix and in special gift cartons sold nationwide.
What The Brands Are Saying
Rachael Mundy, Marketing Manager for Gifting & Seasonal at Nestlé Confectionery UK & Ireland, commented on the exciting addition. "Each year we look forward to bringing a limited edition sweet into the mix to excite and delight Quality Street fans, but this year we’ve taken it a step further by keeping the flavour top secret," she said.
"We can’t wait to find out what the nation thinks the flavour is... it’s going to be very hard keeping the mystery flavour to myself!"
Echoing the excitement, Lisa Cherry, Christmas Buying Manager at John Lewis, stated: "We’re thrilled to be bringing Quality Street back to our stores for Christmas 2025, especially with the added excitement of a mystery sweet in the mix. The pick and mix stations have become a much-loved festive tradition for our customers."
She added that the new personalised ribbons and vintage-inspired baubles would provide an extra-special touch for families creating unique gifts this holiday season.
