Sainsbury's Mince Pie Wrap Sparks Outrage as Shoppers Brand It 'Appalling'
Shoppers slam Sainsbury's 'appalling' Christmas wrap

Sainsbury's has triggered a wave of customer disgust with the launch of a controversial new Christmas product, with many shoppers declaring the supermarket has 'gone too far'.

The Controversial Christmas Creation

The item at the centre of the storm is the Sainsbury’s Mince Pie Brioche Style Wrap, which appeared on shelves last week. The product description lists its components as Crème Fraîche, mincemeat style compote, salted caramel sauce and shortcake biscuit pieces in a brioche style tortilla wrap.

A TikTok user's viral review of the wrap has amplified the negative response. In the video, the shopper expressed immediate regret, stating, "I feel like this is one of those things that everyone’s going to buy to try and then obviously you’re never going to buy it again." She went on to brand the combination "so wrong".

A Wave of Negative Reactions

The reviewer detailed her unpleasant experience, noting a powerful and unexpected flavour. "I don’t have a bad gag reflex, but I feel a bit sick," she confessed. Her most surprising observation was on the taste, adding, "This is going to sound really strange, but it really tastes like Sangria. Like not mulled wine, Sangria. I’m just getting a heavy alcohol element which is very overpowering."

The video resonated with many, with one commenter agreeing it "sounded vile". Another shopper who tried the product commented, "I tried it and I literally couldn’t cope with how bad it tasted. Worst thing ever!"

Not Everyone Hated It

Despite the overwhelming criticism, a few voices offered a more balanced perspective. A different content creator described the wrap as "nice enough" and praised the generous filling. "I like the idea, though, and I like the combination of it," they added.

Another customer admitted their initial hesitation, saying, "What put me off at first were the little shortbread balls – I thought they were suet!" However, after sampling it at a Christmas show, they conceded it "wasn’t as terrible as I thought", while cautioning that eating the whole thing would cause a sugar overload.

The launch of this festive fusion has clearly divided opinion, but the loudest voices have been those of customers who feel Sainsbury's has missed the mark with this experimental Christmas offering.
