Tesco has confirmed it will terminate its partnership with Evri, ending the ParcelShop service available in over 1,200 of its Express stores across the UK.
End of an Era for Tesco and Evri
The UK's largest supermarket chain is currently winding down its collaboration with the delivery firm Evri. A spokesperson for Tesco stated that the service, which allowed customers to send, collect, and return parcels on behalf of Evri, will be fully withdrawn by the end of November.
The specific cut-off date for all Tesco Express branches has been set for Friday, November 28. This move concludes a partnership that began back in 2021, which was enhanced in 2023 when Tesco started offering Clubcard points on selected Evri orders.
What This Means for Shoppers
The discontinuation of the Evri ParcelShop service means customers will lose a key convenience option. Many relied on their local Tesco to handle parcels for popular retailers like Vinted.
Tesco has apologised for any disruption this may cause. "We are sorry for the inconvenience," a company spokesperson said, adding that individual stores will display notices informing customers of the exact date the service will stop at their location.
A New Partnership with Asda
This development comes as Evri simultaneously announced a new and significant partnership with rival supermarket giant Asda. Starting next year, Asda will roll out Evri ParcelShops across all 1,200 of its outlets.
Chris Hall, Asda's Vice President for Logistics, highlighted the convenience for customers, especially during the busy festive period. Evri CEO Martijn de Lange stated that the new alliance strengthens their commitment to providing a modern and customer-focused delivery network for UK shoppers.
For Tesco customers, the search for a new local parcel drop-off point begins now, as this chapter of retail convenience draws to a close.
