Tesco's 'Two Per Person' Water Limit Sparks Shopper Fury Online
Tesco's two-pack water limit angers online shoppers

Tesco has ignited a wave of customer anger after introducing a strict new purchasing limit on bottled water for online home deliveries. The supermarket giant now restricts shoppers to buying a maximum of two multipacks per order on several popular water brands, a move described by many as "ridiculous".

What Products Are Affected?

The new policy, which came into force recently, applies to specific 12-packs of bottled water. Customers are now limited to just two units per order for products including Nestle Pure Life, Ice Valley Still Spring Water (500ml), Highland Spring Still Water (330ml), and British Natural Mineral Water (500ml). This change has left many regular buyers, particularly those who rely on home delivery for bulky items, frustrated and confused.

Shopper Backlash on Social Media

The decision has been met with a swift and vocal response on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. One disgruntled customer posted, "It’s so ridiculous that Tesco delivery now has a limit of 2 multipacks of water for delivery. I guess it’s time to switch to Morrisons." This sentiment was echoed by others who depend on the service for their regular shopping.

Another user questioned the logic behind the restriction, asking Tesco directly, "Can you please advise why there is 2 bottle water limit on your online shopping? This will impact customers who rely on deliveries." The policy appears to have been tightened from a previous limit of three packs down to just two, further aggravating the situation for many households.

Impact on Customers with Specific Needs

The restriction is causing significant inconvenience for shoppers with specific requirements. One individual explained their predicament, stating, "I have to drink 2.5lt of water a day so usually purchase 3 packs of 12 (500ml) as this helps me to keep account of the water I am drinking each day. This week however, I am now being restricted on how much I can buy."

The frustration has led to tangible action, with some shoppers cancelling their orders entirely. One such customer revealed, "I’ve just cancelled a large order for home delivery because you’ve restricted my bottles of Volvic to two. The whole idea of delivery is that I don’t have to haul big bottles around. So there’s no point now." This highlights a potential clash between customer expectations for convenience and the supermarket's new stock management policy.
