UK's Top 10 Loyalty Schemes Revealed in Comprehensive Retail Survey

A major new study has identified the United Kingdom's favourite loyalty programmes, with Tesco, Leon, and Pret emerging as clear leaders. The Retail Loyalty Index surveyed 2,200 consumers to evaluate satisfaction levels across 51 major UK retailers, providing unprecedented insights into what makes a loyalty scheme truly effective.

How the Rankings Were Determined

Shoppers were asked to rate loyalty programmes based on four critical factors: overall satisfaction, likelihood to recommend the scheme, personalisation of rewards, and how securely retailers handle personal information. This comprehensive approach ensured the results reflected genuine consumer sentiment rather than mere popularity.

Consumer expert Harry Wallop commented on the findings, noting: "There are hundreds of different reward schemes out there, but how many are used by consumers with genuine enthusiasm? This study shines a light on how the best ones offer shoppers and diners more than just a discount – they actually make you want to visit the shop, cafe or restaurant."

The Winning Formula for Loyalty Success

Tesco Clubcard claimed the top position with an impressive overall score of 8.38, followed closely by Leon Club at 8.20. Industry experts unanimously agree that the most successful programmes share common characteristics that go beyond simple transactional benefits.

Thomas Hill, Chief Commercial Officer at HyperFinity, explained: "Our Retail Loyalty Index shows that the most rewarding loyalty schemes in the UK are the ones that offer personalised rewards and create an emotional connection with shoppers. The aim of our research is to help UK retailers strengthen their loyalty offering by understanding what actually matters to consumers."

Huh Kimber, Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA & APAC at Bloomreach, added: "The best loyalty programmes don't just reward transactions — they create meaningful, connected experiences across every touchpoint. Personalisation isn't a nice-to-have anymore; it's the foundation of loyalty that actually lasts."
