Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are set to battle it out for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with the Premier League club demanding a £60 million fee for the Egyptian international. Villa manager Unai Emery is pushing the club to make ambitious moves in the transfer market following their Europa League triumph, aiming to mount a serious Premier League title challenge next season.
Villa's Ambitious Plans
Unai Emery has urged Aston Villa's hierarchy to think big after their European success. Marmoush, 27, has emerged as a top target due to his versatility, capable of playing as a centre forward, in the No.10 role, or on the wing. He has been a fringe player at City, and both Villa and Atletico have inquired about his availability.
Atletico's Interest
Atletico Madrid see Marmoush as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez, who is reportedly keen on a move to Barcelona. The Spanish club are prepared to compete with Villa for the player's signature if City green-light a deal. City paid £69m to sign Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt a year ago but are now willing to sell for around £60m.
Marmoush, who is set to feature in the World Cup, is also strongly fancied by Atletico. The race for his signature is heating up as both clubs look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
