Online marketplace giant Vinted has announced a significant platform update that will directly impact its vast community of buyers and sellers in the United Kingdom. The change, which focuses on international expansion, is mandatory for all users.
What is the new Vinted rule?
From December 3, 2025, Vinted will begin connecting its UK and US marketplaces. This integration means that British users will see listings from American sellers in their search results, and vice-versa. The range of items available will expand to include clothing, gadgets, homeware, toys, and footwear from across the Atlantic.
A Vinted spokesperson confirmed the move, stating the company is “starting to enable transactions between our UK and US members.” They described it as an “exciting step that will expand the variety of items for buyers and create more selling opportunities for our community.”
Key details for users
There are several crucial aspects of this update that members need to be aware of. Most notably, there is currently no way for users to disable or filter out these international listings. The connection is being rolled out gradually, and affected members will have access to both domestic and international items in their feeds.
For buyers, payments will be processed in their local currency. The platform's payment service provider handles the currency conversion, and the exchange rate shown at the checkout is locked in at the moment of purchase. Sellers will receive their earnings in their own local currency, simplifying the process.
Vinted has emphasised that buyers retain control over who they trade with. Before committing to a purchase, users can check a seller’s profile to see their country and review their feedback history. The company has also imposed a weight limit of 2kg per package for all items sent between the UK and the US.
What this means for the Vinted community
This policy change represents a major shift for the platform. For buyers, it unlocks a much wider and more diverse inventory of unique items. For sellers, it dramatically increases the potential audience for their listings, putting their products in front of millions of new users.
While the lack of an opt-out feature may concern some users who prefer domestic transactions, Vinted believes that international connections offer a great experience by connecting more buyers with a wider variety of goods. All members are being notified of these changes to ensure transparency as the rollout continues.
