Vuba relocates to Hull's @TheDock tech campus

In a significant move for Hull's technology sector, digital enterprise Vuba has relocated its headquarters to the city's @TheDock tech campus, taking over the final available building in the development.

A Decade-Long Development Comes Full Circle

Vuba has secured the remaining 11,000 square foot building at Hull's @TheDock technology campus through an agreement with commercial property developer Wykeland Group. The company, which counts numerous celebrities among its clientele, is transferring its base from Beverley in East Yorkshire to occupy the entire premises.

The relocation marks a homecoming for Vuba, which was among the founding members of the digital community that initially prompted Wykeland's investment in establishing the Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI) tech hub. This move completes the occupancy of @TheDock, situated in Hull's Fruit Market district, concluding more than ten years of investment by Wykeland to establish the thriving technology centre.

Accelerating Digital Growth and Innovation

The transition to the new headquarters will enable Vuba to accelerate its digital expansion plans, with intentions to grow its team across multiple specialisms. The company plans to recruit additional digital marketers, social media and content creators, videographers and website developers as part of its growth strategy.

Sean Scott, Managing Director of Vuba, commented: "Our move to @TheDock is a real statement of intent. It represents our growth as a forward-thinking digital business and recognises us as a major employer and an exciting place to work."

He added: "It's a fitting reward for our staff, who have played such a significant role in the business growing to where it is today. We wanted to provide the team with a quality place to work and, in our new office, we have achieved exactly that."

From Driveways to Digital: Vuba's Diverse Operations

Established in 2009, Vuba specialises in producing permeable surfacing products commonly used for driveways and gardens. The company's products undergo initial development in a laboratory by an internal team of scientists before manufacturing at one of Vuba's three production sites.

The company's achievements include:

  • Easihold DIY stone binder recently receiving The King's Award for Enterprise for Innovation
  • A new £3 million state-of-the-art mineral processing factory in Goole producing dried aggregates
  • Current resin product manufacturing in Birstall, West Yorkshire, with plans to relocate this operation to Hull
  • Expansion into 15 European countries and establishment in the North American market

Vuba has developed a substantial social media presence with over 1.8 million followers across various platforms, attracting attention from numerous high-profile figures. Their celebrity clientele includes singer Olly Murs, television personality Mark Wright and actress wife Michelle Keegan, former footballer Peter Crouch and model wife Abbey Clancy, Love Island stars Alex and Olivia Bowen, and former football manager Harry Redknapp.

Following the installation of a premium VubaMac driveway at Harry Redknapp's Sandbanks residence, the former football manager visited Beverley to manage a Vuba staff football team.

Transforming Hull's Fruit Market District

The @TheDock campus has played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Fruit Market into a vibrant urban village, now home to hundreds of residents and featuring numerous independent shops, restaurants, bars and galleries.

The group of five buildings, centred around the popular Nibble café, has facilitated the expansion of multiple digital businesses and the creation of hundreds of highly-skilled employment opportunities.

Neil Riseham, Property Director at Wykeland Group, stated: "We're delighted that Vuba have chosen @TheDock as the location for their new headquarters. It brings one of the region's fastest-growing and most innovative companies into the tech community and is another major boost for the Fruit Market."

He emphasised: "A key driver behind Vuba's move is to connect with @TheDock's established and thriving tech community. Being close to C4DI and within the wider development will accelerate Vuba's product development and innovation, helping to maintain their leading position in the industry."

Riseham concluded: "We're pleased to have secured a fantastic occupier for the final building within the @TheDock development. It is the culmination of a decade-long story of investment across the tech campus, which has supported the growth and evolution of dozens of digital businesses."
