Rowcroft Hospice's Sleep Walk Returns to Torbay Coast for 2026
One of South Devon's most cherished charity events is making a highly anticipated comeback, as Rowcroft Hospice has officially announced that The Sleep Walk will take place this June. Proudly sponsored by Majestic Tours, the event promises a night filled with music, fun, heartfelt moments, and thousands of steps across the scenic Torbay area.
Event Details and New Coastal Route
Returning for the first time since 2022, The Sleep Walk invites participants to tackle a new, eight-mile coastal route that winds through Torquay and Paignton. This picturesque journey aims to raise vital funds to support Rowcroft Hospice's specialist end-of-life care for local patients and families across South Devon. The event will start and finish at the Riviera International Centre, with Bingo Bangers kicking off the evening with a fun warm-up session featuring classic 80s and 90s hits, complete with prizes to be won.
Special Moments and Activities
Scheduled for the summer solstice on Saturday, June 20, from 6pm, this event offers the perfect opportunity to walk the coast and watch the sunset on the longest day of the year. Halfway along the route at Roundham Head, walkers will pause for a moving moment of reflection and remembrance at the Lights of Love. Here, participants will light an LED candle in memory of loved ones, creating a beautiful tribute that grows brighter with each person involved.
After the reflective pause, walkers will enjoy a mocktail and sweet treat at Cantina Goodrington before heading back to the finish line. Upon completion, participants will receive a Sleep Walk memento, bacon butties, podium photos, and music, with the celebration continuing at Cantina Torquay.
Ticket Information and Fundraising Goals
Super Early Bird tickets are available now for a limited time, priced at just £17 per adult and £10 per child aged eight and over, until March 17. All walkers who sign up before this date will secure the best price and receive a free Sleep Walk t-shirt. Those registering before May 11 will also receive a t-shirt, although ticket prices will increase as tiers progress.
While ticket sales cover event costs, Rowcroft Hospice encourages all walkers to raise or donate at least £50. This additional support helps ensure that local families receive the compassionate end-of-life care they deserve during difficult times.
Community Support and Excitement
Laura Carus, events manager at Rowcroft Hospice, expressed her enthusiasm for the event's return: "We're thrilled to bring The Sleep Walk back for 2026 and to once again welcome our amazing community to this special night. It's an event filled with joy, reflection, and togetherness, and we're always blown away by the support people show for local families facing the hardest of times. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who takes part and can't wait to see everyone stepping out with us in June!"
This event not only promotes physical activity and community bonding but also serves as a crucial fundraiser for hospice care, making it a meaningful occasion for all involved.
