Civic Pride Rossendale has received a generous donation of quality hand tools, enabling the group to prepare numerous gardens across the area for the upcoming summer season.
Donation from Make (NW) Ltd
Lynn Smith, Chair of Civic Pride Rossendale, expressed delight at the gift presented by Patrick Hickey, Director of Make (NW) Ltd, a property development management company currently collaborating with Casey on the Rawtenstall market project. Smith noted that Hickey, a local resident, has shown genuine interest in supporting the group, not only through tool donations but also by volunteering his own time.
Positive Impact on the Community
Patrick Hickey commented: "Supporting Civic Pride in Rawtenstall is something we’re really proud to be part of. As a business with strong local roots, many of our team live and work in the area, so we see first-hand the positive impact their efforts have on the town. It’s a fantastic community initiative, and we hope these tools help their volunteers continue to make Rawtenstall a cleaner, greener and more welcoming place for everyone."
Call for Volunteers and Donations
Civic Pride Rossendale is currently short of volunteers and donations. All its garden groups in Haslingden, Helmshore, Crawshawbooth, Constable Lee, Edenfield, Tricketts Memorial Grounds, Waterfoot, and Whittaker Park would welcome additional help with tasks such as weeding, planting, pruning, and watering. Tools will be provided. Those interested in litter picking can also get in touch.
Having entered Rawtenstall in Bloom 2026 with the theme "Rawtenstall, Regeneration and Rewilding," extra work is anticipated around the town. Local businesses are encouraged to organise volunteering sessions for their staff; additional sessions can be arranged upon request.
How to Get Involved
Getting involved is simple. Email info@civic-pride.org.uk to receive a weekly update detailing where the group will be working that week. Volunteers can then turn up without any prior commitment to specific days or times. Even an hour of help is valuable. All that is needed is enthusiasm to make a difference. Civic Pride provides gardening equipment (volunteers should bring gloves) or litter picking gear. The group also offers a friendly atmosphere with coffee and camaraderie.
Volunteering with Civic Pride Rossendale helps improve the local area, meet like-minded people, make friends, and feel part of the Rossendale community while spending time outdoors, which is known to boost mental health and wellbeing.
Donations Welcome
In addition to volunteers, Civic Pride Rossendale needs financial support to cover costs such as compost, flowers, tools, and van operation. Donations can be made via bank transfer to TSB sort code 77-76-07, account number 13721160, or through the website www.civic-pride.org.uk. For more information, follow the group on Facebook and Instagram or email info@civic-pride.org.uk.
