Man charged with attempted murder after Evesham stabbing

A 57-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a violent incident in a Worcestershire town centre on Boxing Day.

Emergency Response on Bewdley Street

Emergency services were called to an address on Bewdley Street in Evesham at approximately 6:45pm on Friday, December 26. The location is just off the town's main High Street.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a woman in her sixties who had sustained serious stab wounds. Her injuries were described by police as potentially life-threatening or life-changing.

Arrest and Charge

West Mercia Police swiftly arrested a local man at the scene. He has been named as Clive Harris, aged 57, of Castle Street, Evesham.

Harris was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been formally charged with the offence and remanded in custody.

Court Appearance and Ongoing Investigation

The accused is scheduled to appear at the next available magistrates' court. Meanwhile, the victim remains in hospital receiving treatment for her severe injuries.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed the details, stating: “Officers were called to an address off Bewdley Street at around 6.45pm. A woman in her 60’s sustained serious, possibly life-threatening or life-changing injuries and remains in hospital.”
