Ryan Hand, a 37-year-old man from Brierley Hill, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a violent robbery and knife attack on two teenage boys at Brook Park in Wordsley, Stourbridge. The incident occurred on April 13, when Hand, wearing a balaclava, approached a group of teenagers and demanded they film his assault.
Attack Details
Hand punched two teenage boys multiple times before pulling a bladed weapon from his trousers and slashing one of the victims. He also handed his iPhone to a girl and threatened her to record the attack. The victims were left with injuries, and one boy required hospital treatment for slash wounds. Hand stole their bags, phones, and jackets before fleeing the scene.
Investigation and Arrest
Police recovered footage showing Hand preparing for the attack and heading to the park where his victims were gathered. CCTV also captured him with the stolen items. He was arrested at his home in Lindsey Place, Brierley Hill, where officers seized a black iPhone, a balaclava, and black gloves. None of the stolen property was recovered.
Court Proceedings
Hand was convicted of wounding in April after a trial and pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery, one charge of common assault, and one charge of possessing a knife in a public place. He was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday, June 15.
