An inquest has been opened following the tragic death of a Birmingham father while he was in Cyprus earlier this month. Kirtan Singh Loha, a 49-year-old factory worker and married man from Yardley, died at the Panorama Village House on Friday, June 5.
Post-Mortem Conducted but Cause Unknown
A post-mortem examination was carried out at a hospital abroad, but the medical cause of death has not yet been disclosed. The father was identified by his nephew, who was with him at the time of his passing, Birmingham Coroner's Court heard.
His inquest was formally opened at the court on June 16, where the coroner expressed her deepest condolences to Mr Loha's family and friends. The proceedings have been adjourned until May 2027, as the court was told it will take a significant amount of time to obtain results from Cypriot authorities.
Scope of the Inquest
The inquest will examine the events leading up to his death, as well as the medical cause once it becomes known. Area Coroner Emma Brown stated: "The full name of the deceased is Kirtan Singh Loha, born in Birmingham, his occupation was a factory worker and he was married. He died on June 5 at Panorama Village House in Cyprus. He was identified visually by his nephew, who was with him at the time of his death. He was formally identified in hospital."
She added: "Currently, the cause of death is unknown. A post mortem has been carried out but at this time, the medical cause of death has not been given. The outcome is awaiting authorities in Cyprus and generally it takes a long time to obtain results from abroad, so I am adjourning until May 31, 2027."
The coroner concluded: "The scope of the inquest will examine the events leading to his death and the medical cause of death. It will look at documents from Cypriot authorities and from the pathologist for the post-mortem in Cyprus. I do convey my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Loha at this time."
