Kelly Osbourne has made a powerful declaration of her family's enduring bond with Birmingham, vowing to continue their work in the city following the death of her legendary father, Ozzy Osbourne.
A Civic Honour and a Personal Promise
The 41-year-old television personality was in the city with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, to accept The Lord Mayor's Award, one of Birmingham's highest civic honours. The award was presented in recognition of the family's profound connection to their roots.
Speaking from the grand office of Lord Mayor Councillor Zafar Iqbal, Kelly opened up about the immense love and support she has felt from Birmingham throughout 2025, a year marked by both profound loss and personal milestones.
Birmingham: A City of Love, Loss, and New Beginnings
Kelly's visit underscored the deep personal history the Osbournes have with the city. It was in Birmingham on July 5 that she became engaged to her fiancé, Sid Wilson, following her father's final performance at Villa Park Stadium in Aston, the area where Ozzy was born.
Just weeks after that historic concert, the rock icon Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76. In a moving gesture, the Osbourne family funded a public procession ahead of a private funeral, allowing thousands of Brummies to pay their final respects.
The procession saw Ozzy's coffin travel from Villa Park, along Broad Street and over the renamed Black Sabbath Bridge, passing The Crown pub where Black Sabbath played their first gig.
"We Will Never, Ever Give Up"
Since the tragedy, Kelly has returned to Birmingham to create new memories, including taking her three-year-old son, Sidney, to the German Market and visiting extended family. She told BirminghamLive that her father's description of the city, shared with her in childhood, remains utterly accurate.
"Birmingham is everything he said it was and more," Kelly stated. "My dad was a people person, he was a working class hero and there's nothing like a Brummie. It's the people - I love the people. They're not full of themselves. It is what it is, straightforward and with a whole lot of love."
But beyond accepting the award on her father's behalf, Kelly revealed a far more ambitious goal for the future. "We will never, ever give up on our mission to make Birmingham the most important city in England," she declared from the mayor's office.
She emphatically added, "We will not stop working with the charities we work with. This is just the beginning." This defiant promise signals the Osbourne family's intent to cement their legacy of support for the city that shaped them.
